YORK SOARING DAY OF FUN
Saturday August 7th, 10:00am
Rain Date – Sunday August 8th, 10:00am

York Soaring Association in Arthur Ontario has invited us to a day of gliding. The day will begin with an introductory soaring video and ground briefing followed by the flights. Those wishing to fly the sailplane / glider will be sent up with instructors, or those disinterested in piloting, can simply enjoy the flight as passengers with experienced club pilots.

Unfortunately, due to time and sailplane availability, flying participants are limited to 15. Non-flying attendees is unlimited. There is a small possibility, depending on how the day goes, that they may be able to send more up at the end of the day. To ensure your spot, RSVP to cwiayyz@hotmail.com. Due to the limited availability, priority will be given to membership before guests.

There is a weight limit of 230 lb (for C of G reasons).

The group rate is $80.00 (2000' tow) and $105.00 (3000') - tax is included. This rate offers $20 off the regular rates.

Please bring hats, water bottles and your camera. If you are going flying please include a long neck strap on your camera, this will prevent the camera from falling during the flight and interfering with flight safety. There is a BBQ and picnic tables with sun shades if you wish to bring food. One of the club volunteers puts on burgers ($3), sausages ($2) and you can add $2 for a drink + snack bar. If you are interested in the volunteer's barbeque please include this information in your RSVP. Plan to spend the better part of the day there.

York has new wheelchair accessible bathrooms, new kitchen, classroom, large deck - all built with club volunteer labour. Their website is www.yorksoaring.com. York also has a Freedom Wings program with inspirational flights for disabled and paraplegic, and has licensed Canada's first paraplegic glider pilots!

York, Arthur East in the CFS, has a 2600 ft grass strip + shorter ones. If you wish to fly in, please provide us with these details in your RSVP so you can be provided with a briefing at the busy field.

So if you want to attend:
- RSVP to cwiayyz@hotmail.com
-Include:
flying/not flying
lunch intentions
flying in or not flying in
yes or no if you are available on rain date

Community Outreach
At chapter meetings we will be collecting items for a toiletries drive to benefit a Toronto area shelter.  Nellie's operates a 36 bed emergency shelter for women and children who are homeless and women and children leaving violence in the Toronto area. The Community Support Program provides aftercare and follow-up support and service to women and children who have left the shelter and are now living in the community.
Any support is very much appreciated.  Useful items that we are collecting include shampoo, soap and little sewing kits.  As alot of us spend time in hotels, please consider donating hotel toiletries collected during your stays.
