CWIA Update - Jun 1st, 2007 CWIA CONFERENCE NEXT WEEK! There's still time to come to the Conference in beautiful, sunny Victoria Jun 7-9 on the inner harbour! I know some of you have only just got your June schedules a week ago - it will be a fantastic, fun networking experience - register at http://www.cwia.ca/conference.htm today! Golfing surrounded by the great outdoors in beautiful British Columbia; Pub Crawl in a town where you can easily walk to 7 excellent downtown pubs and dozens of restaurants; shopping in picturesque Victoria; High Tea at the Empress Hotel on the waterfront; great career and aviation topics to discuss with your peers, along with fun social events; this conference has it all! You'll look back later and wish you had come if you don't make it, so see you there! FACEBOOK CWIA GROUP As one of the many facebook newbies - - now I'm pretty much addicted! It's more fun than emailing, since messages from your friends come with a picture of them right beside the message! Click on the picture, and it takes you to their facebook with all the pics they uploaded. And then you see messages and info, and picture links to all of their friend's facebooks, with their photos to click on. You find people you haven't seen in years there. I just went to www.facebook.com and signed up. Seems easy. You can join many groups, and there's a new one called CWIA! There's only just over a dozen of us there so far, but it's growing! OK you facebook experts - send in some tips. What else can I do that's cool with facebook? WARNING - the following could just be a scam. Got this email forwarded from one of our members earlier in May. Don't know who this is or anything about it - what are the chances it could be real? Just passing it on for your perusal: 'Hello, I'm working with an Emmy-award winning TV production company to develop new and dynamic documentary/reality shows, and was hoping you could help. We're looking for female bush pilots who regularly fly through difficult conditions and land in tricky areas to deliver critical goods and services. Do you - or know of anybody - who fits that bill? I'm not sure of the final format of the show, but finding an interesting and engaging pilot (or pilots) would make for a firm foundation. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Sincerely, Jason Skog -- Jason Skog 823 Carroll Street, No. 1 Brooklyn, NY, 11215 Home: (718) 638-0472 Cell: (646) 724-8187 Email: Jason.Skog@Gmail.com ' Could be real, could be a scam, caution! ONE LINERS: This is from my favourite First Officer: 'A copilot is a knot head until he spots opposite direction traffic at 12 o'clock, after which he's a goof-off for not seeing it sooner!' This one came from a Flight Attendant friend, so it's not my personal opinion! 'The three most dangerous things in aviation: A Doctor or Dentist in a Cessna. Two captains in a DC-9. A flight attendant with a chipped tooth.' QUOTE: Once again, this quote came to me from the side of another Starbucks cup! This time it was a decaf tall coffee misto. It's from Apolo Anton Ohno, Olympic Medalist: “If I have given my all and still do not win, I haven’t lost. Others might remember winning or losing; I remember the journey.” Your Chapter (and prospective chapter) Presidents, as well as your Conference Committee, Claire Maxwell in Ottawa-Gatineau (#29598) Teara Fraser in Vancouver (#14156) Katie Childerhose in Winnipeg (#9160) Michelle Bentzen in Calgary (#6037) Lisa Graham in Toronto (#8030) as well as Newly Forming Prospective Chapters: Laura Denis in Edmonton (#16016) Toni Duguay (#14386) in Montreal ~ If you ever wish to not receive these emails again, please let us know and we can take you off the list no problemo! ~ What's your chapter up to?
